Ministries:

St. Timothy's rallied in regards to the recent Katrina disaster. Initially, we rallied and raised a fair amount of money which Thrivant matched. We are continuing to donate towards this very worthy cause with various events. Recently our Woman's Pound auction raised $775.00!!

The money was sent to the Texas-Louisiana Gulf Coast Synod. They will purchase supplies to put together cleaning kits for the people who have suffered losses due to Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. They will purchase the supplies from local merchants, helping improve their economy. Then the kits will be given to those who need them. Helps them twice and saves us the shipping costs.

WELCA

Update:

Once again, we are collecting layette items for the Center for Pregnant Young Teens and Parents in Niagara Falls. We ask for your support while shopping. Items such as sleepers, onesies, playsets, or receiving blankets are needed. A collection box will be in the Narthex through March. The women’s group will assemble layette gift bags later for the new babies. Your generous donations are very much appreciated by these new moms and babies.

St. Timothy will be hosting the Lenten luncheon March 5th at Trinity Church. If you can help or bake please contact Esther Westfall at 775-0251.

The 20th anniversary conference for WELCA will be held April 15th. Mark your calendar. More details will follow.

The next WELCA meeting will be April 7 at 7:00 pm. Come join us for fellowship and bring us your ideas. Have a very Happy Easter!

Thrivent

At St. Timothy, one of the service groups is our Thrivent Financial for Lutherans Branch #5082, formerly known as AAL (Aid Association for Lutherans). As a not-for-profit organization, Thrivent Financial for Lutherans provides financial support to each of its more than 10,000 local volunteer groups called branches.

From CROP Walk for World Hunger, to providing meals for homeless women in Washington, DC, to collecting food for the community food pantry, we learn what it means to reach out to others in God's name.

Other ministries include Habitat for Humanity, the Lutheran Home, an Angel Tree to benefit families of prisoners, Christmas gifts for needy children in the Buffalo area, layettes for young needy mothers, and other projects. We recently sponsored a refugee family from the Sudan through Journey's End Resettlement Service, and look forward to continuing this ministry. St. Timothy has also had a ministry to young children through our Daycare Center.
